Regeneration

Responding to Reena’s Xploration challenge #440, based on above image.

Elon Musk stared out of the window of his 500th floor office watching the Tesla supply drones drift by. Each drone targeted to deliver the daily requirements for healthy living to the population of an over crowded planet. It was the year 2273, exactly 243 years since Musk had folded his regenerative medical research lab into Neuralink and perfected his stem cell research on regeneration.

Musk had mutated a certain species of jelly fish (Turritopsis Dohrnii) a self generating organism, into a petrie dish of human possibilities to create a vaccine that regenerated the human body. If the body sensed a vital organ failing through decease, starvation or old age it would automatically trigger a transdifferentiation of cells, renewing the failing organ. At the end of its 20 year patent life, other companies could not successfully replicate Musk’s formula and special legislation was passed to grant Musk a lifelong patent for this product. At first it was sold for $millions but as time passed the price was reduced to make it affordable for all. As a result the world’s population had grown exponentially and Earth was getting over crowded.

Musk had lived up to his promise of populating the planets. The moon was now a thriving community, as was mars. His next goal was to escape the galaxy and over the years SpaceX had transitioned from chemical propulsion, to nuclear, to anti-matter, and Musk was now deeply involved in creating a gigantic laser array for propelling SpaceX Laser Sail rockets. Laser Sails have no onboard propellant but could be propelled by the laser beam array being created. Musks goal was to at least complete a fly-by of Alpha Centauri and estimated it would take about 20 years from launch with Laser Sails travelling at a 100 million miles per hour.

So Musk looking out of the window of Musk Tower continued musing, now that he had achieved immortality for humans, populated distant planets, and was on the verge of escaping the galaxy, what comes next?
