I was sussing the competition and deciding whether to go for it and buy me own pub, something I’ve always wanted to do, and hey, it’s only money, and I made a few quid in Stepney before the taxes started to bite.
So, the competition, there’s The Baaamy Inn owned by Keith, looks like a fun place full of jokers having a laugh, and then there’s the SS Cafe and Bistro, not sure about that place, SS has a sinister connotation, and I’d be quite within my rights to be wary of the place.
I had a pint at the Baaamy Inn, exchanged pleasantries with Len the barman, listened to some of his jokes, and then wandered over to the SS Cafe and Bistro.
There was this tall, skinny, bloke talking to a small fat bloke who gave me the once over as I entered, another bloke was discussing the movie Odyssey in a Greek accent to two women patiently hearing him out, and the barmaid looked me up and down, and said what’s your pleasure.
I ordered a beer, felt like a fag, and waltzed over to the cigarette machine placed at the entrance, astounded to see a pile of Watch Tower magazines placed in a wooden rack , which threw me for a loop, and I thought, blimey, I know I’m a confused Limey, but this is beyond the pale.
Anyway, now I know my competition, I think I will open me own pub and try to make a go of it, after all we are in the Dog Days of Summer, trying to function in all this heat, so I purchased this run down bar halfway between the Baaamy Inn and the SS Cafe and Bistro and named it the Wily Trout.
Thanks for dropping into the Baaamy Inn – Len likes a bit of free publicity!
I actually did run a village pub, The Brewers Arms, and a Bistro called The Stage Door for many years. A highly recommended way of life!
See you at The Baaamy tomorrow!

The Baaamy Inn, always a fun place to be. Len the barman and I have something in common, our name. Interesting that you’ve had the experience of running a pub, and a bistro, must have been interesting times.

Thank you, Reelika. Kind of written tongue-in-cheek.

I may have to find a secret portal in SSC&B and hop over to the Baaamy for a pint and a laugh, and then skip over to The Wily Trout to see what features there!

Glad to have you visit, Liz, it won’t be open for another month, I have to do the hiring first. I’m looking to hire some interesting staff.

thanks for stopping in… what a uniquely virtual quality to the blogosphere to have places that are initially created for a story but then…endure. A consistency of form that defies the ‘everything imaginary’ life in the virtual world… I could tell you where Colin sits and Babs and her knitting buddies like I walked in… that is writing.
And now your joint…very cool.
can’t wait to see the place (in future Sixes will totally have to stop in

It’s going to be fun to visit The Wily Trout, and by the way, not competitors, colleagues!

100% colleagues. It’s all about interaction. I know you’re thinking we have to be supportive of each other, but businesses do compete. This is fiction after all and we all go our own way. I appreciate Denise introducing me to SSS, and admire her for the effort she puts into this on a consistent basis, it must be draining, and I also admire Clark for his setting up SS Cafe and Bistro and allowing followers to participate in his cafe journey. I’m just doing my own thing the same as everyone else.
