The Feast of All Saints

Responding to Denise’s six sentence stories at girlieontheedge blog using the word pinch

Weary and hung over with sacramental wine, I was in communion with friends celebrating my birthday, and not expecting “pinch, punch, the first day of the month“ as I entered the kitchen for a glass of water.

Susie, my sister, didn’t hold back giving me a nasty pinch and a resounding thump, followed by, “ Oh, and happy birthday bruv”.

Still drugged by sleep, I had forgotten, November 1, my birthday, born on All Saints Day, which had instilled in me a certain expectation of showering kindness and forgiveness on all family members.

Except November 1 is bang in the middle of the Scorpio sign which has instilled in me the need to exact revenge on any perceived injustice or harm to my person.

I like to refer to myself as the Scorpio Saint which has led to constant internal conflicts within my psyche in wanting to do the right thing but failing on numerous occasions.

So after consuming the water in large gulps I eagerly refilled the glass pouring it over my sister’s head, baptizing her in recognition of The Feast of All Saints and at the same time imploring God for repentance for my sins.

  1. It’s not nice to do this to the birthday boy. What a fun story.

By the way, my goddaughter was born right before Christmas, she always got two separate gifts from me, one wrapped in birthday paper and one in Christmas paper. No child deserved to only get one gift “for both.”

  2. I enjoyed your little story.

I was immediately attracted by the title.

    Feast of All Saints.

maybe you’ll be added to their number being born on their Feastday.

  3. Thanks for visiting and commenting, Marian. With the title I chose it was probably not what you were expecting. I’m sure that apart from the Saints canonized by the Church, that there are many, many, unrecognized saints that walk among us. Having visited your blog, I think you may be one of them.
