The Wiley Trout- Mintita

Solo older Thai chef cooking omelette
Responding to Denise’s sixth sentence story at girlieontheedge bblog with the prompt word curse

So I had arrived at my sixth and last employee hire, a chef/cook, someone who would at least not burn the food, and able to turn out a respectable dish.

How do you select a cook, by past experience, do we discuss expertise in selecting different menu options, does character enter the equation, do I ask for a practical demonstration, I didn’t have a clue.

And then in walked Mintita, in command of her surroundings, serious, unbound energy waiting to be released, staring directly into my eyes, waiting for my questions, .

I gave her a nod of acknowledgment, she bowed back, we stared at each other, she definitely commanded the room, and i liked her instantly.

I asked her for her cooking experience, she said “ I cook Thai, I cook French, I cook Italian, I cook Mexican, I curse English cooking becuse its bland and lacks spices, but I am here. I cook anything you want”.

I said can you cook a full English breakfast, a mushroom omelette, steak and kidney pie and fish and chips, and she replied “you betcha, and my friends call me Mint”, and she was hired on the spot, and I threw in “you can add a lamb curry to the list”, as an appeasement.
